Best AI Visibility Tools in 2026

Auditing who wrote the best-AI-visibility-tools lists Google's AI cites

Google's AI names Frase the best AI visibility tool, and the source it cites for that is Frase's own blog post. We pulled the answer and the full search results for ai visibility tools on 30 September 2026 — 1,600 US searches a month at a $60.81 cost per click — and audited who wrote every list on the first two pages.

Four of them rank the publisher first. One does it twice, in two separate articles.

That is the thing to know before you shortlist anything. The lists your buyers read, and the lists answer engines read to build their recommendations, are mostly written by the companies being recommended.

Which AI visibility tools does Google's AI actually name?

Six, in this order: Frase, Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Profound, Otterly.ai and SE Ranking.

Google's AI Overview sits at absolute position 1 for the term, above every organic result. Its citations are where it gets interesting:

Cited sourceWhat it is
frase.io/blog/the-10-best-ai-visibility-tools-in-2026Frase's own blog post — cited in every section of the answer, and the evidence for naming Frase first
zapier.com/blog/best-ai-visibility-toolAn independent listicle
seranking.com/ai-visibility-tracker.htmlSE Ranking's own product page — cited as evidence for SE Ranking
ahrefs.com/ai-visibility-checkerAhrefs' own product page — cited as evidence for Ahrefs Brand Radar
sitepoint.com/ai-visibility-tools-b2b-marketersAn independent listicle
searchable.comA vendor homepage
Four YouTube videosIncluding "Ahrefs vs Profound: Which AI Visibility Tool Is Better?"

Three of the named tools are recommended on the evidence of their own marketing. And four of the roughly ten distinct citations are YouTube videos — a notable share for a category where the written comparisons run to dozens.

Who writes the best-AI-visibility-tools lists?

The vendors. We checked all 18 organic results across pages one and two (Google's organic results, US / English / desktop, first two pages, 30 September 2026). At least four rank themselves first, visible in the search snippet without opening the page:

Add the vendor-published guides that do not number themselves — Beamtrace, Visiblie, Qvery, Revamio, ThriveStack, InLinks, Frase — and the great majority of the first two pages is written by companies in the category.

The highest-ranking document that is not a vendor is a Reddit thread at organic position 3, titled "I tried at least 20+ AI visibility tools for my brand in the last 2…", with 60+ comments. A Quora thread — "Which AI visibility tool are you actually paying for right now?", 30+ answers — sits on page two. On a term worth $60.81 a click, the most trusted comparisons are strangers talking to each other.

Does publishing the list make you bigger than the tools on it?

No, and this is the part worth measuring. We pulled the US organic footprint of each publisher (specialist SEO tooling, US database, 30 September 2026):

PublisherDomainUS organic keywordsUS organic traffic / moRanks itself #1?
Frasefrase.io2,96313,721Named first by Google's AI, on its own post
Cognizocognizo.ai1,8374,748Yes, twice
Geoptiegeoptie.com1,4773,514Yes
Indexlyindexly.ai5,7802,366Yes
Beamtracebeamtrace.com1,4441,222Publishes its own guide
Stefkastefka.com120—

Two rows repay a second look. Indexly holds 5,780 ranking keywords and 2,366 monthly visitors — more keywords than anyone in the table and a sixth of Frase's traffic, which is the signature of a large number of thin pages rather than a few strong ones. And Frase spends on top of it: 141 paid keywords, 18,097 paid visits and roughly $149,000 a month in paid traffic value, alongside the organic. Being the tool Google names first is not costless.

We are the bottom row, with twelve ranking keywords and no organic traffic. That is the honest number and it is the same one we publish every week.

What do AI visibility tools cost?

Google's AI quotes exactly two prices: Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit from $99 a month and Otterly.ai from around $29. Both trace to third-party listicles rather than to the vendors.

Every other tool in its answer — Frase, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Profound, SE Ranking — is described without a price. Profound is characterised as built for large enterprises, which in this category usually means pricing on application.

So the cost picture a buyer is handed is two numbers at the cheap end and silence above them. Budget from your own scope instead: how many prompts you need tracked, how many engines, how often, and whether you need the raw data exported. That last one decides more than price does, and it is the same pattern in the agency market, where the published rate range also traced back to two sources.

Is Google visibility the same as AI visibility?

No, and the difference is measurable rather than theoretical.

When we pulled Google's AI answer for the best AEO agency for B2B SaaS on 23 September 2026, it named iPullRank — which holds 3,797 monthly US organic visitors and does not appear on pages one or two for aeo agency. Graphite ranks second organically for that term with 414 monthly visitors and was not named at all.

Ranking and being cited run on different inputs. A tool that reports only your rankings is measuring the wrong system; a tool that reports only citations will not tell you why. What answer engine optimization actually is sets out the mechanism underneath both.

Worth knowing before you search: Google has not disambiguated this category either. Two of the four People Also Ask questions on ai visibility tools — "What are the 5 most popular AI tools?" and "What are the big 3 AI tools?" — are about AI tools in general, not about visibility tracking.

How do you check whether a tracker is pulling live answers?

Run one of its tracked prompts yourself, in the same engine, on the same day, and compare what you see with what the dashboard reports.

This is the live question in the category — an r/SEO thread two days old asks exactly it — and it matters because assistant answers vary by session, region and signed-in account. Some drift between your check and the tool's is expected and is not evidence of a problem. What should concern you is a dashboard whose numbers never move, or that consistently reports mentions you cannot reproduce in any session.

Ask a vendor, before you buy: how often do you sample, from which region, and can I export the raw answers rather than a score? A tool that will show you the underlying answers is one you can audit. A tool that will only show you an index is asking for trust the category has not yet earned.

Do you need a tool at all?

Not to start. The manual method costs an afternoon a month and answers the first question a tool would.

Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode for the best providers in your category. Write down who is named, and open the citations to see which sources the answer was built from. Repeat monthly, same prompts, same day of the month. That gives you a trend line and — more useful — the list of sources you would need to appear in. The free manual method sets it out in full.

A paid tool earns its price at the point where you need daily sampling across dozens of prompts, coverage of engines you do not use yourself, or an audit trail a client or a board will accept. Below that, it is buying convenience.

Which tool should a B2B SaaS company choose?

Choose on four things the marketing rarely leads with.

  1. Engine coverage that matches your buyers. Not the longest list — the right list. If your category lives in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, coverage of eight engines is not worth paying for.
  2. Citation versus mention, reported separately. Being named and being cited as a source are different outcomes with different fixes, and a tool that merges them into one score hides which one you have.
  3. Raw export. If you cannot get the underlying answers out, you cannot verify the score, and you cannot analyse the source domains — which is where the actual work is.
  4. Prompt control. You should be able to write the prompts your buyers actually use, not pick from a template set built for e-commerce.

Disclosure, because this article is about who has an interest: we use Peec AI for client AI-visibility tracking. It appears in several of the lists above, including Geoptie's at number three and Zapier's. We have no commercial relationship with them beyond being a customer, and we do not have a stefka.com project in it yet — which is why the AI-mentions figure we publish each week still comes from a separate pull.

Where Stefka fits

We are an AI-native marketing studio for B2B SaaS, run from Amsterdam, sold as fractional marketing leadership with AI search visibility as the specialism.

We do not sell a tool, which is the reason this page can be written the way it is. What we do is run the measurement and the work that follows it — and we publish our own numbers weekly, including the ones that do not flatter us: twelve ranking US keywords, zero organic traffic, and zero genuine AI mentions, because our one recorded mention is co-cited with a baby-name dictionary and refers to the given name rather than the studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI visibility tool in 2026?

There is no independent answer yet. Google's AI names Frase first and cites Frase's own blog post as the evidence. Of the 18 results on pages one and two for "ai visibility tools", at least four are vendor listicles that rank the publisher first. Pick on engine coverage and export, not on rankings.

What do AI visibility tools cost?

Google's AI answer quotes Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit from $99 a month and Otterly.ai from around $29. Those two figures are the only prices in its answer, and both come from third-party listicles rather than the vendors. Most enterprise tools publish no price at all.

Is Google visibility the same as AI visibility?

No, and the gap is measurable. On 23 September 2026 Google's AI named iPullRank as a top AEO agency while iPullRank did not rank on pages one or two for the term; Graphite ranked second organically and was not named. Ranking and being cited run on different inputs.

Do I need a tool, or can I track AI visibility manually?

Manually is the right start. Ask the assistants your buyers use for recommendations in your category, record who is named and which sources are cited, and repeat monthly. A tool earns its price when you need daily sampling across many prompts, or an audit trail someone else can check.

How do I know a tracker is showing me live answers?

Run one of its tracked prompts yourself in the same engine on the same day and compare. Assistants vary by session, region and account, so expect drift — but a tool whose output never moves, or never matches what you see, is sampling something other than what your buyers see.
